THAR2002 Musical Theatre Workshop 2

Prerequisites: THAR1211 Acting 1, Musical Theatre Majors Only or Instructor Permission
Course Description
Performance-oriented/studio class that will focus on techniques and styles of performance in musical theatre. Students will research, rehearse and perform a variety of musical theatre repertoire in class and in preparation for a performance. Additionally, students will prepare frequent material to perform and practice for mock auditions. Verbal/written critique will be a valid part of this course.
Goals and Objectives
This course is intended to develop basic skills in costume design through:
Providing ample and regular performing opportunities.
Becoming familiar with significant theatrical time periods and performance styles.
Developing skills in researching and analyzing musical scores in preparation for developing character.
Developing appropriate performance techniques physical, interpretative, gestures, etc.
Acknowledging the difference between an excellent/good/adequate/or bad performances and intelligently discuss those differences.
Understanding and process the basics of critique-to receive and deliver-thereby processing to become a better performer.
Becoming a more confident, committed and energetic performers.
Becoming sufficiently prepared for student and professional auditions.
Successfully completing and class homework or projects.

Selected musical scores/sheet music as needed
