DANC2013 Tap Dance 2
Credit Hours: 1 semester hours
Prerequisite: DANC1313 Tap Dance 1 or Instructor Permission
Course Description
This class will cover a beginner/intermediate movement vocabulary for American Tap Dance. The course is intended to help the student understand dance as a process of exploring movement, performing and relating to other dancers and audience. There will be 1 written & performance midterm, 1 written and performance final and 1 Final Public Performance. There is no required text for this course.
Expected Learner Outcomes
Students will will be able to demonstrate dance as a technically specific, physical and creative art form
Students will be able to perform the beginner/intermediate TAP movement vocabulary proficiently.
Students will be able to perform intermediate/advanced TAP movement vocabulary with a level of understanding that show a progression in technique.
Students will be able to speak intelligently and academically about their experiences with movement.
Dancers will be professional in their approach to class.
Students will be able to identify what TAP techniques are currently and what they could become
Students will have grown qualitatively with increased awareness
Students will show a retention in skills and will be able to demonstrate simple step combinations and proper placement
Students will have respect for their fellow dancers, instructors, material, studio space, and guest artists.
Students will be able to create and think independently about complex movements
Students should have a deeper understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.
Course Competencies

The student will be able to effectively complete complex combinations of movements at the Warm-Up, Barre, Centre, and Traveling through Space
