ARTS3631 Graphic Design Studio 1
Credit Hours: 3 semester hours
Prerequisites: ARTS3611 Digital Imaging 1 or ARTS3612 Digital Illustration 1 or ARTS3613 Digital Publishing 1
Course Description
Students will develop design content, project and media targeted towards branding and branding identities. Projects will encompass experience derived from previous courses and may be executed via hand drawn imagery, photography and/or custom digital content. Studio experience should lead to portfolio pieces.
Goals and Objectives
The goals of this course are as follows:
Encourage creative problem-solving abilities within a digital venue.
Foster creative thinking amongst students particularly in regard to 2D design.
Develop visual and spoken artistic vocabulary to better articulate ideas more completely.
Develop understanding of design parameters required when developing artwork in a commercial environment.
Students who complete this course will be able to:
Layout and compose a design, as evidenced by completion of projects.
Express personal design practice to project, as evidenced by presentation during critique and project’s outcome.
Visually demonstrate thought processes, as evidenced by successful completion and development of projects.
Adhere to design parameters defined by secondary sources, as evidenced by project consistency to art direction.
