ARTS1105 Digital Foundations
Credit Hours: 3 semester hours
Prerequisites: ARTS1101 Two-Dimensional Foundations
Course Description
An introduction to the creation and storage of graphic-based work. Discussion of raster vs. vector graphics and their usefulness for different applications. A broad overview of some of the software and the parameters it defines for the artist, and an introduction to some of the core tools of graphic design software. Production of original artworks.
Goals and Objectives
The goals of this course are as follows:
Introduce and familiarize students with a variety of digital tools and their creative roles in the art world.
Adopt design process, build on an idea — from early concept to a finished piece of work.
Mastery of keyboard shortcuts, interface, and tools used in each software program.
Recognize the strengths each software program has to offer as a tool.
Materials Needed
8 GB or higher flash drive (Used for project backups!)
Access to a computer strong enough to run the required programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya)
