Note: Always include your student ID number when communicating with advisors or the department chair.

Instructions for students

The check sheets will help your advisor to get recommended courses to you as quickly as possible. If you have questions, or need assistance filling out the document, contact your advisor with your ID and available times and they can schedule a time to meet with you.

Note: Course recommendations will be based upon your accurate and complete information provided on the check sheet. The transcripts remain the final sourse of truth for completed courses.

Step 1: Getting your documents

  1. Download the check sheet for your major.

  2. Save the file with your ID and last name as the filename. Example: 8675309 - smith.txt

  3. Access your Unofficial Transcripts via mySSU. This transcript is a list of the courses you have taken, the semester they were taken, and the grade you received.

  4. If you are unable to access your transcripts, please contact the Student Business Center or the department secretary to obtain a copy. Be certain to use your school email and include your student ID number.

Continue to the next steps below.

Step 2: Completing the check sheet

  1. Open the check sheet in a text editor (examples: Textedit on Mac or Notepad on Windows).

  2. Place an X in the brackets for courses you have completed or have in progress.

  3. Reference information from your transcripts for accuracy.

  4. Replace XX00 with the semester and year of a course completed or in progress. Examples:
    FA22 = Fall 2022
    SP22 = Spring 2022
    SM22 = Summer 2022
    TC = Transfer Credit.

  5. Add any relevant notes.

  6. After marking all courses, save the TXT file. Remember, it should be saved with your ID and name in the filename.

Examples of notes:

Registration

Registration happens within MySSU. It is important to point out that you have two separate but similar accounts. One is your Shawnee Network Account and the other is your @MyMail Email/Office365 Account

These accounts are separate but have VERY SIMILAR usernames and this can be confusing.

What do I do if I need help once I am logged into MySSU?

Look for the Student Registration area on the Student Tab to begin registering. If you receive an error while trying to register or if you need assistance with any of the MySSU functions (like Registration, Financial Aid, or Billing), please submit a Student Business Center Help Form.

What do I do if I need login assistance or need to get my password reset?

Please submit an IT Support Form if you experience any issues with the login process or need to have your network password reset.

Where can I get more detailed login directions?

You can find step-by-step directions and screen shots that show this error and what to do at: https://www.shawnee.edu/sso
